Calaveras gallery show will celebrate LGBTQAI+ lives
The Calaveras County Arts Council is looking for submissions for its “Safe Space: The Art of
Rural LGBTQAI+” gallery show, which will run June 20 through Aug. 18.
The show is for LGBTQAI+ artists and their allies, friends and families in celebration of Pride Month.
Artwork that “celebrates, amplifies and normalizes LGBTQAI+ lives in our rural community” can be entered by anyone, stated a news release from the council. “Let your art shine a light on a safe Calaveras County where everybody is welcomed, respected and loved.”
The show is being produced in partnership with the Tri-county LGBT Alliance, #out4mentalhealth, Amador and Tuolumne county arts councils and Rosebud's Cafe.
Artwork can be any medium, 2-D or 3-D, and there is no charge to enter. Art is due in the gallery by Thursday, June 16.
A reception will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 23, at the Arts Council gallery, 22 N. Main St., San Andreas.
