Auction of one-of-a-kind chairs set Aug. 14

Tuolumne County Arts will hold its “Chairs, Chairs, Chairs — For the Arts, Everyone has a Seat,” chair auction during 2nd Saturday Art Night Aug. 14.

The auction has been months in the making. People with an artistic bent were invited in

April to pick up one of 36 unusual chairs donated by Railtown 1897 State Historic Park and transform them into works of art.

Some of these completed chairs can be seen now at businesses throughout downtown Sonora including The Candy Vault, Fittin’ Pretty Bras and Boutique, Little Roots Toy Store, Downtown Shoes, Heel to Toe and Sonora Florist. Chairs can also be viewed, and bid on early, online at mytuolumnecountyarts.org.

Tuolumne County Arts is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that brings arts accessibility and education to Tuolumne County artists, students, residents and visitors. TCA is open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays at 21 N. Washington St.

The Aug. 14 auction will be held at Courthouse Square in downtown Sonora.
