Artists sought for 67th annual Fine Arts Show

The Mother Lode Art Association is seeking artwork for its 67th annual Fine Art Show in October.

The show is the nonprofit organization’s primary fundraiser. Proceeds from entry fees, art sales, and raffle tickets go to support art education in Tuolumne County schools.

This year, in addition to its regular show, the association will hold a juried student show, open to participants up to age 18 who attend a school in Tuolumne County.

There’s still plenty of time to create a work of art for the show in the following categories: acrylic and oils; watercolor; mixed media and graphics including lithography, linocut, serigraph, mono-print, woodcut, etc., collage, encaustic, etching, charcoal, graphite, pen/brush and ink, colored pencil; 3-D sculpture, pottery, stained and fused glass; pastels; as well as the category “Foothill Favorites,” which is open to any medium.

Awards include $300 for Best of Show; $100 for the Diane Sanguinetti Honorary Award; $100 People’s Choice; $100 for the Foothill Favorites winner; and $100 for first, $75 for second and $50 for third in each category.

The show will open with an Artists’ Reception from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 15, at the Sonora Opera Hall, 250 S. Washington St., in downtown Sonora. Presentation of awards will begin at 7 p.m.

The show will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday,

Oct. 17 at the Opera Hall. A raffle and silent auction will also be a part of the event, both of which close at 2 p.m. Sunday.

For more information, including eligibility, rules and entry forms, go online to www.motherlodeartassociation.org. Entries must be postmarked by Friday, Oct. 1.
